I don't normally bother editing my photos that much but I quite like the effect I got out of this one with some tweaks.
Last year I watched a sunset in Lahaina on Maui while Sara was in a shop. Normally this would have been something she would be into checking out too but we had watched a bunch of beautiful sunsets over the past few days, the shop was closing soon and we were leaving the next day. If it had been a shop I was interested in, I would have done the same.
I stood there, leaning on a short sea wall, leaning over a small but nice looking beach in the middle of the busiest tourist spot on the island, just lost in this sunset. I can’t tell you why, because I don’t know. I was just completely… I just typed lost but that doesn’t feel right and sounds kind of cheesy.
It was one of those moments where everything just felt good and right in the world.
It felt totally freeing, looking out over the wide pacific as the magic hour faded into the sea. I’ve never seen a green flash but I don’t know if it could have topped it.
This one is unedited. I still like it a lot, but it doesn't do it justice at all I don't think. But then again, I was there so I don't think any photo could.
There’s not really a point to this post, just me remembering a moment. Have a great day tomorrow and if you see something awesome, take a few extra moments to appreciate it. What ever you were doing can wait.
I'm starting to need a hair cut...
