I went for dinner with my mum and Paul after work this evening as Sara is doing a close at her new place to see how they've been doing all the end of the night stuff and to check if there are any changes or tweaks that need to be made.
It was really nice to catch up with them both, it feels like ages since I've last seen them. It's kind of good though I suppose, we've always sort of operated with a 'no news is good news' type mentality so I know that there is nothing disastrous happening with them and, hell I write about whatever I've got going on so you know that there's nothing bad with me at the moment.
They asked if I wanted to join them walking the dogs down by the sea front and although it did sound really nice I declined as I wanted to get home to write. I only managed to watch a few of the introductory lectures yesterday and so today I wanted to get one with a bit and have a go at one of the first writing prompts. It was a lot of fun! I'm not going to go into the full details as I feel like I'd just be giving the course away for free if I did that but the essence of the exercise was to, in ten minutes, write a really bad description of a character entering the room. They encouraged you to over describe every little thing you could and in the accompanying resources gave a few examples to use as prompts. I enjoyed doing it. It was fun to over think about the chosen character and I didn't struggle to think of things to say. I actually ran out of time before I ran out of details, I think that was intention of the exercise.
Anyway, here is a picture of a some donkeys I took on my way home from dinner. Enjoy.
