First Impressions - Red Dead 2
So, obviously, I’ve been playing a shit load of Red Dead Redemption 2.
I played until I was pretty much falling asleep in real life while riding my horse in game last night and this afternoon/evening I’ve played pretty consistently since Sara left for work at two thirty.
This game is too massive and there are too many places better equipped for me to want to write a review of it so today is just going to be my first impressions after about ten hours of play.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is amazing.
That’s it’s. End of post.
Not really, but it could be. I don’t really know how to articulate properly just why it’s so good without just rambling on and listing features and little details, and god knows that every video game YouTube channel in the world is going to have their version of, “Top Ten Most Mind Blowing Details In RDR2!” *insert air horn noise here*
I don’t want to be boring and do the same.
It just captures a feeling, if you’re riding around and feel like there is something you’d want to be able to do as a cowboy, chances are you can do it!
Life isn’t easy as a somewhat outlaw in the waning days of the old west. I’m trying to play the game being morally good; not antagonising people, greeting and befriending townsfolk, only killing people in self defence, etc. But sometimes situations occur where, through no fault of your own, you may have to blow a few lawmen away and flee a small logging town as quickly as possible. The problem is then that you’ve just spent most of your money on a snazzy new outfit, upgrading your gangs camp, losing a few hands of poker and getting your gun engraved and you can’t pay off the price on your head.
At that point, if you linger in that area for too long bounty hunters will start coming for you and inevitably you’ll have to kill them too, which only increases the bounty!
The circle of life is hard on a cowboy.
Now if you’ll excuse me I’ve just seen a grizzly bear on a frozen lake defending the carcass of a deer he took down from three wolves... and I’m gonna kill it.
