Six Years Of The Mouse
I noticed, thanks to those annoying Facebook memory things, that six years ago today was when news broke about Disney acquiring Lucasfilm and making new Star Wars!
It feels so long ago and it was definitely a galaxy far, far away from where we are today. Four movies, two animated series, numerous books and comics, two major release video games and a fanbase divided later and I think it's safe to say that Star Wars hasn't ever been as relevant or controversial as it is now.
I think that it's just kind of a catalyst for a lot of other problems though to be honest and I don't want to go into all that.
I love having new Star Wars. I might not love every single thing that comes out, but the good thing about this time is that there is always going to be some new Star Wars around the corner so if I don't enjoy something much, it's not going to be that long until something new comes along.
So what's coming up, Episode 9 is next xmas, The Mandolorian is next year when the Disney streaming service launches as does the limited revival of The Clone Wars, Edge of the Galaxy opens in Florida and California next year, Resistance is currently airing and despite them shelving some of the spin-offs the movies from Rian Johnson and the Game of Thrones guys are still coming at some point apparently.
Thats a lot of Star Wars.
May the force be with us I guess.
