Spider-Verse

I just finished watching Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, finally! I was really exciting about this film when it was coming out but it happened to release right when everything went crap and it wasn’t in theatres over here for very long so I didn’t get a chance to see it until now.

My expectations were high, it looked great, everyone I know loved it and it was pretty universally praised. I’ve been listening to the soundtrack for months now too!

I’m very happy that it lived up to those expectations. It’s brilliant. Easily the best Spider-Man movie we’ve ever had and right up there with the best superhero movies in general.

It is very deserving of its Best Animated feature Oscar win, the movie is gorgeous and so unique in its animation style. It’s the most ‘comic book’ looking comic book movie ever, using visual styles and cues usually only seen in still frames on a page.

Everything else I could say about the movie has been said a lot more eloquently by people much more qualified at this point, so I’m just going to leave it there and say I loved the movie.

My day has been pretty good over all, my car passed its MOT, I sold a board game for a great price, bought a bought game for a great price (the types of great were opposite) and caught up with some friends in town.

I popped into my old shop while I was waiting for my car and both Teesh and Phil were working, just hanging out and shooting the shit with them was fun, it felt like old times except it wasn’t me getting distracted and pulled away but annoying customers. Teesh was on her lunch while I was still there and was meeting up with some other friends who just happened to be in town for the day so seeing Hannah and Dave was a pleasant surprise too!

Good day today, I approve.
