Everything Is Fucked
Everything is fucked... actually it’s not. It’s far from it, that’s just the title of the book I’m reading at the moment. The full title is Everything Is Fucked: A Book About Hope and it is the new book from Mark Manson the author of The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A Fuck which I’ve read a couple of times and written about at least as much.
I loved that previous book so much that this one was a blind buy for me.
I’m only about a fifth of the way through it so far but it feels like a continuation of the same theme.
Manson’s style of writing is still very casual and approachable bouncing from deathly serious to jovial and crass within the space of a paragraph.
I find that level of informality works really well and prevents the ideas he’s presenting from feeling preachy or overly instructive. He’s just laying out his thoughts, opinions, research and advice in the same way you would if you were talking to a friend. He doesn’t really give a fuck if you take it on board, but he has an opinion and is happy to share it.
Everything Is Fucked feels like a sequel that is expanding the scope. Subtle Art dealt with personal problems and solutions while this book takes a more macro look at the world that is falling down around us and offers suggestions on how to, if not change it then, accept it and continue on living a happier and productive life.
I’ll probably write about it again sometime in the future after I’ve finished but if you enjoyed the last one, and I know a fair few people read it based on my praise, I’d certainly recommend checking this out too. It’s widely available in all formats where ever books are sold.
