Allow Me To Reintroduce Myself
Nah, I’m not Jay Z, sorry. Still just James.
I was back to work today, other than a raspy voice where my vocal chords are still healing and the occasional cough because of that I feel fine again which is really good news.
Burgers, laughs and a good nights sleep was a solid end to my time off sick and I’m really glad to get back to normal.
Getting back to normal doesn’t just mean getting up early and going back to work though, the other big part of it for me is getting back into my exercise pattern.
I’ve been slowly building back up what I’ve been doing over the last few days and over the weekend I got back to a point where I was doing my full weight sets again that I usually do daily. I’m not going to lie and say it was easy but it also felt really good to get back to that spot.
I haven’t done any cardio or yoga in three weeks now though and I really need to get back to it.
I’m not going to push myself, I’m going to listen to my body and if I need to tap out at any point I will, but the plan is to do a mild half hour on the bike first, see how I’m doing and then my weights followed by the core work, something else that’s been sorely lacking while I’ve been laid up. I’ll reintroduce yoga once I’m back to a point when I can do all that without feeling like I’m struggling.
It’s a completely different order for how I usually work out but I want to ease myself back in. It is actually the order I introduced things when I started exercising daily at the end of 2018. The only difference then is I was totally out of shape and it took weeks and months to introduce new elements into it. My hope now that I’ll be back to a full work out by the end of the week.
The fact that I’m writing this hours before doing any of that and won’t be posting it until after means theoretically I could let you know how it went. But I think I’d rather leave you guessing!
