Wow, what an awful day it’s been outside! Luckily for me I haven’t had to go out in it once.
I’ve spent the day indoors and it’s been pretty great to be honest. The highlight was this afternoon/evening playing games online with most of the same group who were all here for the big game last week. Rutter was the only exception as he doesn’t have an Xbox but the other four of us were in a party chat all playing our separate games while we were all installing one game we could play together co-op.
The original plan was to go through some of the Halo: Reach campaign but the download for that was so big and taking a while for those who didn’t have it installed already so we went with Overcooked 2 instead.
It’s a crazy, chaotic and silly fun game where you all play chefs in a kitchen trying to fulfil a variety of orders while on the clock. It starts out very simple and lulls you into a false sense of security and confidence before ramping up the difficulty massively and becoming anarchy. I played through the first game two player but doubling the play count some how makes it easier and harder all at the same time.
Once we found a good rhythm and all had roles we were good at on each level we were able to nail it though. That same part of me that loves the organised nature of a good routine really took satisfaction in the efficient nature of the last level we played before calling it a night.
It was such a blast just being on group chat with three of my favourite people, the jokes were inappropriate, the conversation often blue but the company was impeccable and I wouldn’t change any of them for the world. It’s nice to know that we don’t all have to be in the same room at the same time to have just as much fun fucking around and having a laugh together. Getting a group together is tricky sometimes, this theoretically should be a bit easier!
Especially on days when the idea of going outside makes your face scrunch up like you’ve just bit into a lemon.
